Options for Tracking Candidate Availability
One of the biggest challenges that all recruiters deal with is knowing which candidates in their huge databases are actually available or looking for work at any given time. Within Crelate, there are a lot of dates tracked automatically in the system - last updated, created on, last activity, last action, etc.
Unfortunately, recruiters are constantly reaching out to passive candidates we’ve known for years, so simply sorting by the last time there was an associated activity is not adequate. Last updated includes any changes to the profile (including things like tagging) which could easily be updated by a recruiter who is simply doing research and tags a candidate. There are two potential solutions I’d love to see explored:
1. Create the option for tags to auto-expire:
If we could set a tag to expire after X number of days, weeks, etc. we could, at the very least, keep a great list of the candidates that we’ve tagged as actively looking, knowing that it would stay relatively current.
Using the tag feature would allow recruiters to un-tag them, if they find out the candidate is no longer available.
This wouldn’t be perfect as tags might expire while a candidate is still available, but at least it would help elevate those candidates that we know have been looking within a certain time frame and give recruiters a closer-to-realistic “active” pool of candidates in crelate.
2. Create a “Last Active” field that could be updated by certain activities or triggers:
This field could be automatically updated based on certain triggers. For example, the first trigger would be creation date - the system would assume the creation date is their last “active” date until it is updated some other way.
Then, if you could create an option for admins setting up activities to have that activity trigger an update to their “last active” date. For example, when we submit a candidate, we can assume they are still active. Then they interview. Etc. These could be good ways to keep that candidate’s last active date up-to-date while in process with us.
This could also be manually overwritten. So, for example, if I see a candidate on Indeed, I could just go to their “last active” field and update that without having to take further action.
Either of these could help us. Our recruiters tend to want to use Indeed because they can see how “fresh” a candidate is. Option two on this list would build in that capacity a bit within Crelate, which would get our recrutiers sourcing in it more.
